My hair is naturally light brown, i have tried several haircoloring products, but i am always left with strawberry blonde never blonde. I dot have alot of money to spend at the salon so that options out. Is there any hope in an over the counter hair color?

If you have reddish highlights in your hair, most colorings will bring that out. If you go to a salon store (i.e., Sally's), get the colors that have a blue or green base (says that on the front of the bottle in small print). That will tone down the redness.

"Preference by Lorel" do lighten my daughters hair and her hair is dark brown naturally. We have never had it show any reds or oranges. Preference is cheap about $3.00 a box, give or take a few cents.

That's just the way hair coloring works. You're going to get the reddish undertones when you lift the color no matter what because of the science behind it. If you want to get rid of that, use something with a more neutral tone. The green tone (I know green sounds bad, but it's not really!) will neutralize the red undertones. My hair is a medium brown and it always ends up orange before I neutralize it.
