My husband has beatiful red hair (mother had red hair, father has alot of red hair in familly). I'm brown haired w/ blue eyes, my paternal grandmother had auburn hair . We are really hoping for a red head.

In order for your baby to have red hair, both you and your husband would have to carry the gene for red hair. You already know you husband has the gene, but without any redheads in your family it is unknown whether you have the gene.

That being said and if we are to assume that you do have the gene and are a heterozygous carrier, and we already know your husband is a heterozygous carrier for red hair, then you have a 25% (or 1 out of 4) chance of your baby being a redhead.

Good Luck.....Red Hair is super rare...I have red hair, my dad had red hair and still my son has blonde hair...it may turn to brown b/c thats what my husbands hair color is and he was blonde as a child....I hope that my next child will get my red hair just b/c it is so rare! I am not positive what the odds are though.....Also my grandfather on my moms side always had a red mustache and my cousin has red hair...so I know I have the gene for it...it just all depends on when it will show up!

Oh its a possibility ...U know itss weird becuz my cousins son has red hair n u know my cousin n his wife have dark brown hair but in my cousin and I fammily line it rruns the red hair n out o f many generations that have skipped he is the only on that came out with red hair n that ccuz i would hahve though that one of my great uncles whomhave red hair that there kids would come out with red hair n no..But u nevere know its a possibility.. I have 2 kids . my son is just like me dark hair dark eyes my daughter is like my hubby sandy blonde hair with green eyes soo it jusst depends if u plan on having more kids im sure one is bout to have red hair if n not ur grandchildren n if not well mmany genereations down like my ccousin did.. Well, the only way to have a child with red hair is if the gene is on both sides of your family. You say your paternal grandmother had auburn hair...That may not necessarily be the gene that makes red hair. It could be just a certain shade of brown that pops out every now and again. But if she truly did have the gene, then you have a much better chance than most because both your husband and mother-in-law were blessed with red hair. I have red hair as does my mother and my husband is a brunette. His grandfather had red hair so we'd love to have a redheaded little girl. It really is luck of the draw and just remember, the gene is very rare but if you've got it on both sides of your family, you've got a shot! Good luck!

There's no telling, my husband has brown hair, I have brown hair and hazel eyes, nobody in the family had red hair and my son has red hair and blue eyes...

So it doesn't really mean anything.

My husband has red hair and I have brown hair. We have three kids and I have two red-heads and a brown haired little boy!! I think your chances of a red head sound pretty good to me and if you are going to have more than one I'll bet you'll have at least one!! Good Luck...
